Good showers likely over Mahabaleshwar, Goa, Mangalore, Kozhikode

Presently, rainfall intensity is on the higher side over the Coastal Karnataka region with moderate to heavy showers lashing the area. Kerala as well as Goa has also received good showers, while Coastal Maharashtra has observed lesser rains in the past 24 hours.

In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, Panjim has witnessed a whopping 50 mm of rain, Vengurla 28 mm, Kozhikode 33 mm, Karipur 29 mm, Mangalore 28 mm, Kannur 25 mm, Thane 21 mm and Mahabaleshwar 19 mm.

The reason for reduced rainfall activity is attributed to the off shore trough which is now running from Coastal Karnataka to Kerala region.

However, as per weathermen at Skymet, rains will increase over the Coastal Maharashtra region around July 13 and 14. Not only this, meanwhile, good rains are likely to continue over other parts of the West Coast including Kerala as well as Coastal Karnataka. Mumbai is also likely to observe an increase in Monson showers.
