Good showers likely over Interior Odisha; rains to reduce over Coastal parts

Since last few days, many parts of Odisha have been experiencing good Monsoon rains and thundershowers. Whereas, almost dry weather conditions have been prevailing over several districts of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. In a meantime, in last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Paradip recorded 90 mm of rainfall, Koraput 46.4 mm, Jharsuguda 32 mm, Sambalpur 22 mm, Titlagarh 20 mm, Cuttack 12 mm, Bhubneshwar 11 mm, Kheonjhargarh 8.4 mm, Chandbali and Dhenkanal 8 mm and at Puri 5.2 mm.

These weather conditions can be attributed to a cyclonic circulation which was seen over Gangetic West Bengal and has presently moved towards Jharkhand. Due to this, the rainfall intensity over Coastal Odisha is likely to reduce now. Although, the Interior parts of Odisha will continue to witness light to moderate rains for the next 24 hours.

Thereafter, these good Monsoon rains over the Interior parts of Odisha are expected to pick up a pace. As to which, the temperatures will also drop by 2-3 notches and will eventually lead to a pleasant and comfortable weather for the residents. Furthermore, the chances of flooding have been ruled out over the state of Andhra Pradesh including Odisha.

During the next 24 to 48 hours, the weather of remaining parts of Andhra Pradesh and several districts of Telangana will continue to remain almost dry though isolated light rains cannot be ruled out over North Coastal Andhra Pradesh. These on and off Monsoon rains over the state including several parts of Odisha will continue to occur until August 8.
