Story first published on March 12, 2016: As reiterated Skymet Weather, plains of Northwest India have received good showers during last 24 hours. Fairly widespread light to moderate rain and thundershowers have been recorded over most parts of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, West Rajasthan and West Uttar Pradesh.

Several parts of these states have also observed hailstorms and thundersqualls.

According to Skymet Weather, these rains were due to the presence of an induced cyclonic circulation over Central Pakistan, West Rajasthan and adjoining parts of Punjab.

The ongoing wet spell can be touted as a prolong one. We can expect rain activity with similar intensity to continue for another 24 hours. Thereafter, rains will continue over the plains but with reduced intensity as the system will shift eastwards.

With this movement, rain belt will also shift and cover more parts of Central and East Uttar Pradesh.

The fresh rains have led to pleasant weather over Northwest India. Day temperatures, which have been settling above normal for the last few days, have witnessed a significant drop by 2-4 degrees. While, hailstorm will decrease the minimum temperatures across the region.

Let us have a look at the rainfall figures across the northwestern plains in span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Friday.
