Andhra Pradesh has been receiving good showers for the past few days. So much so that some areas of Coastal Andhra Pradesh have also received rains more than 50 mm. Temperatures have also been under check over these areas.
During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Friday, Machilipatnam witnessed 64 mm of rain, followed by Vijayawada where 58 mm of rainfall was received during the same period. Other areas to have received rains include Bapatla 26 mm of rain, Tuni 10 mm, and Kakinada 4 mm.
These rains can be attributed to the cyclonic circulation which was over west-central Bay of Bengal and adjoining Andhra Pradesh and Odisha coast. The system has now moved northwards and is currently marked over Andhra Pradesh Coast and adjoining South Odisha. A trough is also extending from this system up to Northeast India.
During the next 24 to 48 hours, more rains are expected to lash the coastal areas of the state. Good rains will also be observed over parts of Coastal Odisha. Temperatures will remain under check. In fact, maximums will be well below the normal levels over several areas.
