Good showers in the offing for Central India, East Rajasthan

Dry weather has been observed over Central India for the past few days. Due to the absence of a significant weather system over the region, rains continued to give Central India a miss.

However, rainfall is in the offing for Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and its adjoining areas February 16 onward.

Good showers are likely over Central India due to the merging of opposite winds, i.e. dry and cold northerly winds meeting warm and humid southerly winds coming from both the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal over Madhya Pradesh.

Meeting of these winds will give rise to the development of cloud cover resulting in rain over Madhya Pradesh on February 16. Chhattisgarh and Odisha have already been observing light rainfall activity for the past 24 hours. Light to moderate rain may also occur over these areas during this period.

Thereafter, the rain belt will shift slightly towards the west. While light showers will continue over Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, isolated rainfall activity is also expected over East Rajasthan. Places including Jaipur and Kota will also receive rain on February 17.

Due to the system, parts of East Uttar Pradesh will also observe light rainfall activity. Cities like Allahabad, Banda, Mahoba, and Jhansi will see light rainfall activity on February 17. After that, rainfall intensity will decrease over the areas mentioned above due to the movement of the system.
