Good showers continue over Honavar, Mangalore, Goa; Kerala rains to reduce

The West Coast of the country has been witnessing good showers for quite some time now. So much so that the region has recorded a few heavy spells of rainfall in the last few days of the month of June. In fact, a few spells of three digit rains also during this period.

The Konkan and Goa along with few parts of Coastal Karnataka have been the areas where heavy rains were witnessed and the Kerala region received lesser rains as compared to the other two regions of the West Coast.

The last 24 hours were also no different and the region witnessed good rains with heavy showers over isolated pockets. In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, Honavar witnessed 125 mm of rain followed by 50 mm rain in Mangalore.

Other areas to have received good rains include 45 mm rain in Panjim, Vengurla 41 mm, Karwar 28 mm, Alappuzha 29 mm, Karipur 23 mm, Kozhikode 20 mm, Kannur 17 mm and Ratnagiri 18 mm.

These weather conditions have been attributed to the trough which is currently running from Coastal Maharashtra up to Kerala.

As per weathermen at Skymet, good rains will continue over the West Coast particularly Coastal Maharashtra, Goa and Coastal Karnataka. However, rains will remain light to moderate over the Kerala region.
