Good rains to take a back seat over Chandigarh, Ambala, Ludhiana, Hisar

Punjab, Haryana may witness thunderstorms this evening

Good rains occurred over northern districts of Punjab and adjoining Haryana in the past few days. The weather conditions had become very pleasant across both the states. Places like Chandigarh, Ambala, Ludhiana, and Patiala received scattered light to moderate rains in the past day as well.

In the last 24 hours from 8.30 am on Wednesday, Patiala in Punjab received moderate intensity rain of 27.8 mm. While, Chandigarh witnessed light rain of 3.1 mm, Pathankot 1.8 mm and Ludhiana 1 mm. in the same span of time in Haryana witnessed light rain 5.8 mm of rain, Hisar 5 mm, and Ambala 1.1 mm of rain.

As per Skymet Weather, the western districts of Punjab such as Bhatinda, Firozpur, Amritsar, Moga witnessed dry weather conditions. Similarly, the western districts Haryana such as Hisar, Bhiwani, Sirsa, Fatehabad also witnessed dry weather conditions.

Punjab Lightning and rain

At present, the axis of Monsoon trough is running from North Punjab to Bay of Bengal across Karnal city of Haryana. Therefore it is anticipated that significant rain activities will not occur over southern and western districts of these states and mainly dry weather will prevail.

However scattered rains may continue over northern districts of Punjab. Places like Chandigarh, Patiala, Nawanshahr, Ludhiana, and Ambala may receive one or two spells of light to moderate rains. Remaining districts of the states will remain almost dry. It is expected that monsoon will remain weak over Haryana and Punjab for the next four to five days. Weather is also likely to remain warm and sultry.
