Good rains to make a comeback in Delhi

July 7, 2016 1:37 PM | Skymet Weather Team

Since last 2-3 days weather of Delhi has been unbearably sultry. Even though the sky has become partly cloudy to cloudy at times but good rains are still nowhere to be seen over the region.

There are two weather systems that may help Delhi to get good rains. A depression that has tuned in to a well-marked low-pressure area is present over East Madhya Pradesh. And a Monsoon trough is running south of Delhi.

We expect that well-marked low-pressure area will weaken gradually and move in a West-Southwest direction.

Axis of Monsoon trough is expected to move in a northerly direction towards Delhi. These systems are expected to give light scattered rain on July 7-8 over Delhi and adjoining areas.

Rain intensity will increase from July 10 and on and off light to moderate rain is expected to continue till July 14. But as the Monsoon will not be active over Northern plains as of now, we do not expect continuous good rain over Delhi.

Rains will be patchy for the time being and will last for short duration, however some good intensity shower between July 10-11 and July 14 cannot be ruled out.

Temperatures will subside around that time and will remain in lower 30°C. The relief from the current sultry weather conditions is also expected around that time.

We now have to wait and see what will be the weather after July 14, whether it will rain even more or sultry weather conditions will make a return.
