Rayalaseema region of Andhra Pradesh along with North Interior Karnataka have been witnessing good rain activity for the last few days. According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, both the rain deficit regions will continue with the weather activity for next couple of days as well.
In span of last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Friday, Raichur recorded 23 mm followed by Anantapur 12 mm, Cuddappah 11.8 mm and Nellore 9 mm.
As per Skymet, combination of several weather systems on East and West Coast is responsible for the wet spell over entire Peninsular India.
On the East Coast, a cyclonic circulation is marked over west-central Bay of Bengal, off the Andhra Pradesh coast. While on the west side, another cyclonic circulation is seen in east-central Arabian Sea.
An east-west trough can be seen extending between these two cyclonic circulations across Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.
Skymet predicts, light to moderate rain accompanied by thundershowers over several places of North Interior Karnataka during next 48 hours.
Intensity of rain will be more over Rayalaseema, as it will continue with good showers for next 3-4 days.
Both the regions mentioned above did not witness impressive Monsoon showers this year. Rayalaseema recorded good rains in June. However subdued activity was witnessed in July, which pushed the rain deficiency from 2% to 37%. August and September also saw below average rains but were slightly better than July.
Similarly, North Interior Karnataka was rain deficient by 14% at the end of June. July and August did not fair too well and rain deficiency further went down to 42%. However, good showers made a comeback over the region during September that improved the situation to an extent and the month ended with 29% of rain deficiency.
