Good rains to continue over drought hit Maharashtra

Maharashtra has seen on and off pre-Monsoon rain for last couple of days, particularly over parts of Marathwada and Madhya Maharashtra.

Maharashtra has been battling severe drought conditions since last two years in absence of good Monsoon rains.

According to Skymet Weather, several parts such as Pune, Aurangabad, Latur have recorded scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rain and thundershowers accompanied by squally winds in span of 24 hours. Isolated parts have recorded heavy rains as well.

Nashik along with other places have also witnessed thunderstorm and hail storm activities. Besides this, we expect these weather activities along with strong winds to continue for another 2 to 3 days.

The ongoing wet spell can be attributed to the wind discontinuity seen over the region. This weather phenomenon will prevail over the region and thus the activity will continue.

These rains have also led to abatement of heatwave from entire parts of the state. Vidarbha, Marathwada and Madhya Maharashtra are prone to heatwave to severe heatwave conditions during pre-Monsoon season.

Let us have a look at the rainfall figures recorded in span of hours from 8:30 am on Monday.
