The state of Uttar Pradesh has been receiving moderate to heavy showers from the past two days. Mainly northern districts including Bareilly, Moradabad, have been receiving good rains. However, southern districts such as Varanasi, Agra, Orai, and Fursatganj have also received scattered light showers.
In the past 24 hours from 8.30 am on Wednesday, Bareilly received 34 mm, Bahraich 29 mm, Gorakhpur 21 mm of rain. In the same span of time Varanasi, Meerut and Lucknow received light rain. These rains can be attributed combined weather systems over the state.

At present, a cyclonic circulation is persisting over northern parts of Central Uttar Pradesh. And the axis of Monsoon trough is passing through the state and it is running across Bareilly and Gorakhpur. As the trough is over northern parts of the state, therefore there are chances of good rains over northern districts.

After 48 hours it is anticipated that the trough will move slightly southwards. The shifting of the trough will lead to good rains over many districts of central and south Uttar Pradesh on August 6 and 7. Varanasi, Allahabad, Sultanpur, Jhansi, Banda, Lucknow, and Kanpur are likely to receive moderate to heavy intensity rains which will lead to pleasant weather conditions.
