The northeastern part of the country happens to be one of the rainiest regions of the country. When the entire country witnesses hot and sultry weather conditions, it is Northeast India where good rains do make an appearance.
The last few days have also been rainy enough for the Northeastern states. In fact, very heavy rains were recorded in the state of Tripura a few days ago which had resulted in flood like conditions over the state. In fact, just about last week, very heavy rains were recorded over the states of Assam and Meghalaya.
The last 24 hours were also rainy enough for the states of the northeastern region. During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, Goalpara recorded a whopping 21 mm of rain, Imphal 11 mm, Silchar 7 mm, Pasighat 6 mm, Dibrugarh 2 mm, and Tinsukia 5 mm of rainfall.
Currently, a feeble cyclonic circulation is over Assam and adjoining Meghalaya region. This system will continue to give good rains over the states of Assam, Meghalaya as well as Arunachal Pradesh during the next 24 to 48 hours. However, rainfall intensity is expected to reduce over the states of Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during the aforementioned time frame.
