The state of Odisha as well as Andhra Pradesh have been witnessing light to moderate showers for the past few days. In fact, the last 24 hours have also seen similar weather conditions over the region and light rains to moderate spells of rain have been received over the region. One or two pockets have also witnessed heavy spells of rain.
In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Tuni recorded 21 mm of rainfall, Kakinada 7 mm, Bapatla 4 mm, Ongole 5 mm, Kavali 41 mm, Koraput 1 mm, and Angul 9 mm.

These weather conditions can be attributed to a cyclonic circulation which is lying over West Central Bay of Bengal off the north Andhra Pradesh coast adjoining Odisha region. A trough is also extending from this system up to North Tamil Nadu region.

Thus, during the next 24 hours light to moderate rainfall is expected over both Andhra Pradesh and Odisha coast. One or two areas may also witness heavy rainfall activity. Due to this, temperatures will also witness a drop over the region.
At present Odisha is witnessing rainfall deficiency of 8% which happens to be in the normal level range while coastal Andhra Pradesh has recorded a surplus of 14% rainfall. Upcoming rains will only cause the rainfall percentages to increase in the coming days.
