Scattered light to moderate rains are going on over many parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. One or two places also recorded heavy spells.

The last 24 hours were also not much different and many parts of northern hills recorded good spells of rains. During the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Tuesday, Jammu recorded heavy rains to the tune of 83 mm, followed by Dharamsala 71 mm, Uttrakashi 49 mm, Dehradun 28 mm, Katra 27 mm, Manali 14 mm, Tehri 9 mm, Nainital 6.5 mm, Pahalgam 6 mm.
The reason for these rains can be attributed to the Western Disturbance that is persisting over Jammu and Kashmir. With this weather system, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand will continue to record moderate rains, while light rains will continue over Jammu and Kashmir.

Weathermen predict rains to reduce over Vaishno devi and Katra. Only light rains with one or two moderate spells are likely over the region. However, probabilities of landslides cannot be ruled out. So, pilgrims are advised not to make plans for the coming weekend.
As on July 26, the subdivision of rainfall distribution statistics show that Jammu and Kashmir region is rain surplus by 42%, Uttarakhand is rain surplus by 8% and Himachal Pradesh is the only rain deficient region by 14%.
