Active Monsoon conditions have kept the state of Madhya Pradesh rainy in the month of August. While light intensity showers have been occurring over the northern and central parts of the state, the southeastern districts have been lucky to witness good showers.
Since the second week of August, many parts of Madhya Pradesh have received moderate showers with one or two heavy spells have also been observed in the region. Now, good rains are expected to occur over many parts of the state for the next 24-48 hours. These rains will be due to the influence of a cyclonic circulation which is over Odisha and adjoining areas.
Additionally, light to moderate rain and thunder shower is likely over Rewa, Satna, Shahdol, Sidhi, Chhatarpur, Damoh, Panna, Tikamgarh, Bhopal, Guna, Rajgarh, Sehore, Shajapur, Vidisha, Dewas, East Nimar, Harda, Hoshangabad, Indore, Raisen, Chhindwara, Seoni, Nagpur, Balaghat, Mandla, Anuppur, Dindori, Jabalpur and Katni districts of Madhya Pradesh during the next 6 hours.
In the last 24 hours, from 08:30 am on Thursday, Ratlam recorded 64 mm of rains, Jabalpur 48 mm, Khajuraho 41 mm, Umaria 24 mm, Indore 23 mm, Datia 17 mm, Sheopur 10 mm and Khandwa witnessed 7 mm of light rains.
By August 26, this weather system is likely to reach Chhattisgarh and adjoining southeast Madhya Pradesh and rains will increase over the South and East Madhya Pradesh. Hence, districts such as Rewa, Satna, Sagar, Umaria, Jabalpur, Khargone, Betul, and Hoshangabad may witness some good rains.

Skymet Weather reiterates that by August 27, districts of southwest Madhya Pradesh such as Ratlam, Indore, Bhopal, and Ujjain will also witness good rains. But the intensity of rains will be light to very light over the northern region of the state in the districts such as Gwalior, Datia, Sheopur, and Morena.
Gradually, by August 28 and 29, the rain belt will shift towards Gujarat and north Madhya Maharashtra thereby reducing the intensity of rains over the eastern parts of the state.
