Monsoon rains over Uttar Pradesh took a back seat and the dry spell took over most parts of the state. However, after a prolonged dry spell, rains are all set to make a comeback over many parts of the state.
In fact, some isolated spells were observed by a few stations of West Uttar Pradesh on the last day, the state more or less remained dry.

As per Skymet Weather, the Axis of Monsoon Trough is presently running via Madhya Pradesh. This is the reason Monsoon rains were in the backseat. However, now, Skymet Weather predicts that the trough would gradually move up north, towards Uttar Pradesh, leading to increased rain activities over the state after 24 hours.
Thus, July 12 onwards, the intensity of rains would increase over many parts of the state. During this time, the state could brace for some moderate showers, however, heavy rains in isolated pockets cannot be ruled out as well. These rains are expected to continue occurring over the state until July 15.
According to Skymet Weather, the intensity of rains is likely to remain much more over South Uttar Pradesh. Thus, stations right from Rai Bareilly to Lucknow, including Kanpur, Bareilly, Firozabad, Etah Hardoi, Amethi, are going to get these moderate to heavy rains.
In fact, short spell of rain and thundershowers with gusty wind would occur at few parts over Aligarh, Badaun, Bareilly, Bulandshahr, Hardoi, Jyotiba Phule Nagar, Kanshiram Nagar, Kheri, Moradabad, Pilibhit, Rampur, Sambhal and Shahjahanpur districts of Uttar Pradesh during next 2 to 4 hours
