Chhattisgarh and Odisha have been receiving good rains since last many days. In the last 24 hours from 8:30 a.m. on Friday, Rajnandgaon in Chhattisgarh received 44.6 mm of rainfall, Durg 26.2 mm, Raipur 15.7 mm, and Jagdalpur observed 14 mm of rains. During the similar time frame, Bhubaneswar in Odisha received 35.2 mm of rainfall, Balasore 22.4 mm, and Paradip witnessed 12.7 mm of rains.
Light to moderate rains are likely to continue over Chhattisgarh and Odisha for the next few days. Rainfall intensity can also increase over both these states. These moderate to heavy rainfall can be attributed to the multiple weather systems over the region.
Moderate rain and thundershower with moderate lightning is likely at many places over Angul, Baleshwar, Baragarh, Bhadrak, Boudh, Cuttack, Deogarh, Dhenkanal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Jharsuguda, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Kendrapara, Keonjhar, Khordha, Koraput, Malkangiri, Mayurbhanj, Nabarangpur, Nayagarh, Puri, Rayagada, Sambalpur, Sonepur and Sundargarh during the next 6 hours.

As per Skymet Weather, a cyclonic circulation persist over Northwest Bay of Bengal and is extending up to upper tropospheric level and an active trough is also extending from West Rajasthan to North Bay of Bengal across Odisha. Another cyclonic circulation is over North Bay of Bengal which may intensify into a low pressure area in the next 48 hours.

As on July 14, the rain deficiency of Odisha stands at 8% while, Chhattisgarh is rain deficit by 9%. Due to the continuous rainfall over the states the rain deficit is likely to subside and would improve gradually. Temperatures across both the states will remain near normal and are not likely to scale up much.
