The month of September has not been too good in terms of rain for the state of Maharashtra. In fact, only subdued rains have been going on over Maharashtra since the beginning of the month and heavy showers have remained in hiding. However, on and off showers were witnessed over the Vidarbha subdivision of Maharashtra.

Now, rain gods are all set to bestow some kindness over many parts of Maharashtra. In fact, rains are expected to increase over South Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, and parts of Vidarbha during next 48 hours. Thereafter, Konkan and Goa may also witness few good spells of rain.

The reason for the upcoming rains will be a trough which is expected to form over Madhya Maharashtra and thereafter, a feeble cyclonic circulation is also expected to develop over Konkan and Goa which will further increase rains over Maharashtra.

Thus, during the next 2 to 3 days, light to moderate rains are expected over many parts. These on and off rains will continue until September 12-13. Cities including Pune, Kolhapur, Parbhani, Nashik may receive light to moderate rains.

Nagpur will also receive some spells of rain after 24 hours. Meanwhile, rains are likely over the city of Mumbai around September 10 and 11.

Thus, it is safe to say that scattered showers will lash several parts of Maharashtra. However, weather of Jalgaon and adjoining areas will remain almost dry.
