Good rains likely in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Rayalaseema, Karnataka for next few days

At the time of retreat of Southwest Monsoon, change in weather pattern takes place. At the same time, conditions tend to become favourable for rainfall to increase over South India and signs start to appear for the arrival of Northeast Monsoon region. The onset of Northeast Monsoon is not announced before October 20 despite rainfall being calculated from Oct 1 itself.

The southern parts of the country have started to receive rainfall activity since the beginning of the month of October. Moreover, enough conditions are there that rains in South India are expected to continue without too many breaks until the beginning of Northeast Monsoon.

A cyclonic circulation is over Southwest Bay of Bengal off the Tamil Nadu coast which is expected to enhance the rainfall activity over many parts of South India in the coming days.

In fact, in the last 24 hours also, some areas of South India have witnessed rains in these areas including Thiruvananthapuram 59 mm, Valparai 56 mm, Tiruttani 54 mm, Alappuzha 46 mm, Tirupathi 45 mm, Nellore 41 mm, Punalur 35 mm, Madurai 28 mm, Chikmagalur 34 mm, and Chennai 28 mm.

Rainy conditions are expected to continue over South India including parts of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Coastal Karnataka, South Interior Karnataka, and Rayalaseema for the next few days without any breaks until the beginning of Northeast Monsoon.
