Monsoon rain in Madhya Pradesh

Madhya Pradesh had been receiving good rainfall activities during the Southwest Monsoon period. In contrary, the post Monsoon season, the state has not yet observed good intensity rains. But since the last few days, a few places of southern and eastern districts of Madhya Pradesh have been witnessing light to moderate rain and thundershowers. Besides this, northern and western districts of Madhya Pradesh have been facing uncomfortable weather conditions for quite a long time now.

Within the span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Pachmarhi recorded moderate rainfall of 29 mm, Seoni 7.2 mm and Betul 6.2 mm. While the other districts of the state failed to witness any significant rains.

These weather conditions can be attributed to two prevailing cyclonic circulations, one is seen over South Odisha and then another can be marked over North Bay of Bengal. Further, this system is likely to move westwards. Thus, it will affect the weather over East Madhya Pradesh and South Madhya Pradesh in the coming few days.

Due to the effect of these weather systems over the state, light to moderate rain and thundershower activities are likely to continue in several districts of East and South Madhya Pradesh during the next two to three days.

On the other hand, due to dry and warm winds prevailing over northern and western districts of Madhya Pradesh, it is anticipated that these regions will continue to reel under very warm and dry weather conditions with the mostly sunny sky conditions.

However, districts such as Rewa, Umaria, Seoni, Betul, Hoshangabad, Narsinghpur, Sidhi, Shahdol and Pachmarhi will continue to witness light to moderate intensity of rains for the next few days.

Maximums are expected to reach around 32-35 degrees Celsius. Whereas the minimums temperatures are likely to range from 20-23 degrees Celsius.

Accordingly, the afternoons will continue to remain warm and humid while the mornings and night are likely to remain comfortable under the cloud cover phenomena.

As on October 7, the sub-divisional rainfall distribution statistics show that East and West Madhya Pradesh are both rain deficient by 66% and 92%, respectively.
