With advent of good Monsoon rains over the south peninsular region, most parts of Andhra Pradesh have received good Monsoon rains during past few days. Coastal Andhra Pradesh is 8% rainfall surplus while Rayalaseema is 5% rainfall surplus.
These good rainfall figures over East Coast can be attributed to the low-pressure system persisting over Andhra Pradesh.
But now rain intensity over Andhra Pradesh, especially coastal regions will reduce significantly but Rayalaseema will continue to witness good showers as the low-pressure system will move towards West Coast.
But the good news is that around September 18 another cyclonic circulation will be brewing over west-central Bay of Bengal off Andhra Pradesh Coast. That time we can expect the rain intensity to increase once again over coastal Andhra Pradesh. Few moderate to heavy spells can also happen around that time.
So throughout the next week light to moderate rainfall will continue and scattered light rain will happen over Rayalaseema. And with that the rain surplus will also move to more positive numbers.
Even in the month of October good rainfall is expected to continue as the Northeast Monsoon will set in over Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
In the last 24 hours, rainfall over various regions of the state was: Kalingapatnam 21 mm, Kurnool 44 mm, Visakhapatnam 18 mm, Bapatla 58 mm, Narsapur 31 mm and Machilipatnam 12 mm.
