Bengaluru weather has been playing hide and seek for quite some time now. With on and off rains on some days and dry and warm weather on the other, the city has been safe from the prevailing heatwave conditions over other parts.
A day before, the capital city of Karnataka witnessed about 3 mm of rain, however, yesterday only cloudy weather prevailed over the region with temperatures ranging a notch below the normal levels. Yesterday, the maximum temperature settled at a good 33.5 degrees.
Presently, a cyclonic circulation has developed over South Interior Karnataka and adjoining Tamil Nadu. Moisture incursion will take place from both Arabian Sea as well as the Bay of Bengal. Due to this, few good spells of rain during the next 48 hours i.e. on May 17 and 18.
These showers are likely to take place during the late afternoon and evening hours.
Although Monsoon has commenced over most parts of Andaman Sea, but there is still time for Monsoon to reach Kerala. Thus, these rains will be Pre-Monsoon rains and Monsoon 2017 will commence and pick up the pace in the first week of June.
During June, Bengaluru is likely to witness a significant increase in rain activity.
