After a long time, good rains have lashed several parts of Northeast India during last 24 hours. Rainfall was mostly confined to the higher region of the Northeast India that includes parts of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim.

Sikkim has recorded heavy showers, while Assam received moderate showers. Arunachal Pradesh witnessed only light showers. Weather conditions indicate that rain activity will continue for another 24 hours, reducing thereafter.

According to Skymet Meteorologist Division in India, region has been mostly dry after the withdrawal of the Southwest Monsoon during October.

Active Western Disturbance present over Jammu and Kashmir along with a north-south trough over Assam and Arunachal Pradesh region has been responsible for the downpour.

This will also mark the transition period from normal weather condition to winters.
