Mumbai rains which were absent for a very long time did make a comeback a couple of days ago. In fact, rainfall activity increased over several parts of Konkan as well as the Gujarat Coast during the same time.
The reason for these rains can be attributed to the presence of a weakened system over central parts of the country, which have activated the rainfall over these areas. Whenever, a system is over Central India region, moist winds from Arabian Sea begin to feed moisture over the West Coast resulting in rains of varied intensity over these areas.
During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Friday, Dahanu saw 74 mm of rains, Thane 64 mm of rainfall, Harnai 59 mm, Colaba in Mumbai 57 mm, Santa Cruz 52 mm, and Diu 49 mm.
As per weathermen at Skymet Weather, Mumbai rains are likely to be seen tomorrow as well with varying intensity. Possibility of one odd heavy spells of rains cannot be ruled out. Adjoining areas of Konkan will also see similar weather activity with rains being on the higher side in some parts. Moreover, the possibility of isolated rains over Gujarat coast cannot be ruled out. Thereafter, rains will reduce over these areas significantly.
