As had been reiterated by Skymet Weather, Mumbai rains have picked up pace with moderate rains lashing the commercial capital in the last 24 hours. In the past 24 hours from 8:30 am on Thusrday, Mumbai's Santa Cruz recorded 55 mm of rainfall.
These rains are attributed to the well marked low, which has moved inland is currently over East Madhya Pradesh and adjoining areas. The system is expected to meander over this region for the next 2-3 days.
Thus, Monsoon surge will remain active along the Konkan region icnluding Mumbai which means, the city is expected to continue seeing rains. In fact, there may be heavy to very heavy rains over Mumbai as well in the coming days as well.
Mumbai has so far already recorded 267.5 mm of rains against the monthly September average of 383.5 mm. With this spell, it looks like Mumbai might very soon surpass the monthly normal.
