The month of July has been good for the state of Uttar Pradesh. Moderate to heavy Monsoon rains have been lashing the region for quite some time now. In fact, the foothills of Uttar Pradesh have been receiving incessant Monsoon rains for the past few days.
The last 24 hours were also no different and the region continued to witness good rains. During the last 21 hours from 8:30 am on Thursday, while Bareilly recorded a whopping 51 mm of rainfall, 20 mm of rain was witnessed over Bahraich.
These rains can be attributed to the upper air cyclonic circulation which is lingering over Bihar for the past few days. Currently, the weather system continued to persist over Bihar and adjoining Sub-Himalayan West Bengal. Also, the axis of the Monsoon trough continues to run close to the foothills of the Himalayas.
These good rains are likely to continue for the next 24 to 48 hours as well. Thereafter, the rainfall intensity is expected to reduce as the axis of the Monsoon trough is expected to shift in a southward direction.
Currently, while West Uttar Pradesh has been witnessing excess rains with a rainfall surplus of 25 percent, East Uttar Pradesh has also been performing well with 5 percent rain surplus. As a whole, the state of Uttar Pradesh is observing a rainfall surplus of 12 percent and the month of July is expected to end on a good note.
