During the course of 24 hours, few good spells were witnessed over the state of Haryana. On the other hand, Punjab saw light showers, wherein Bhiwani recorded heavy rains to the tune of 46 mm, Ambala 30 mm, Karnal 11 mm, Narnaul 9 mm, Hisar 5 mm and Rohtak saw 4 mm of light spells.

After remaining away from its normal position, now we expect the axis of Monsoon trough to shift gradually towards the north. Besides this, the low pressure area sited over North Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Uttar Pradesh is also anticipated to move northwards but after fading into a cyclonic circulation.

In view of these weather features, we can expect rainfall activity to increase over Haryana as well as Punjab during the next two to three days. These on and off rains are most likely to continue with intensity lingering as moderate to heavy over both the states at least till July 25 and 26. Thus, this may be an episode of good spell for both Punjab and Haryana.

During this phase, places such as Chandigarh, Ambala, Karnal, Rohtak, Ludhiana, Jalandhar and Patiala may observe the rain activity.

Consequently, we are supposing the rain deficiency to improve over Haryana. Similarly, the rain surplus over Punjab would expand. As on July 20, Punjab stands rain surplus by 18%, while Haryana is rain deficit by 16%.
