Good rains in offing for Kerala after 24 hours

October 24, 2017 4:24 PM |

Kerala

Almost the entire state of Kerala has been reeling under dry and warm weather conditions since past 2 days. Likewise, the northern and interior districts of the state have remained rain-free. Whereas, isolated pockets of southern districts of Kerala have been managing to record on and off scattered rainfall activities.

Within a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, the entire state failed to record any significant good amount of rains.

The reason for such weather activities can be attributed to a cyclonic circulation which is seen persisting over the south-east Arabian Sea and adjoining areas of North Kerala. A trough is also seen extending from this system up to Sri Lanka Coast across South Tamil Nadu.

Due to these prevailing weather systems over the state, scattered light rains are likely over southern stations of Kerala only during the next 24 hours. While some places over the aforementioned region may also witness a few spells of moderate showers during the similar time frame.

Districts such as Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam will witness scattered light to moderate rains during the next 24 hours.

After 24 hours, the intensity of these rain and thundershowers are expected to increase significantly over the entire state of Kerala. During this period, the weather conditions over the state are likely to turn cool and pleasant.
