Few spells of rain lashed many districts of West Bengal including Kolkata during the last few days. In fact, July also kick started with good spells over this region. Good rains will not stop showing over Kolkata today as well and keep on showering upon in parts of the city for another 24 to 48 hours. The day temperatures will remain in lower 30’s.
In the span of last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, Sriniketan recorded 78.4 mm of rainfall, Asansol 70 mm, Bardhaman 35 mm, Krishnanagar 26.6 mm, Berhampore and Baharampur 17 mm, Kolkata 8 mm, Bankura and Malda 4 mm.
According to Skymet Weather, a cyclonic circulation is prevailing over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal. A trough is seen running from this system up to another cyclonic circulation which is seen over Gangetic West Bengal. With this, good rains are expected to occur over Kolkata and adjoining areas during the next 24 to 48 hours.

However, more rains are anticipated over the City of Joy in the coming few days. Though these rains may subside after 48 hours but on and off rainfall activities will keep on occurring over this region. The residents of Kolkata is likely to experience pleasant weather conditions for next two to three days.
