The districts of East Madhya Pradesh and West Chhattisgarh have been witnessing good rains from last many days as compared with the districts of West Madhya Pradesh. Despite this, as on June 22, East Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh are yet rain deficient by 34% and 18% respectively. While West Madhya Pradesh is rain surplus by 29%.

Monsoon has already covered entire Chhattisgarh and has touched parts of Madhya Pradesh on June 22, delayed by a good 7- 8 days as by now, it should have covered entire Madhya Pradesh. However, good rains have been pouring over both the states. But now, these rains are likely to reduce.

Let’s take a look at the rainfall recorded in the various districts of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh in the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Thursday:

As per Skymet Weather, these rains can be attributed to a feeble trough that is extending up to Telangana across Chhattisgarh and East Madhya Pradesh. Now, these rains are expected to become subdued for the next 2 days. However, light showers will still keep on showing up in parts of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

The further progress of Southwest Monsoon is also not anticipated until June 27. However, Skymet further reiterates that there is a possibility of a development of a cyclonic circulation over Northwest Arabian Sea and another over Northwest Bay of Bengal. Due to this, humid winds from these two water bodies will reach Central India including both Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh thereby resulting in rains.

Hence, rains will once again pick up the pace over Chhattisgarh and East Madhya Pradesh by June 28. It is during this time that most of the Central India will get to see good rains which will mark the arrival of Monsoon over some more parts of Madhya Pradesh.
