Good rains in Hisar, Ambala, Amritsar, Jalandhar to appear by July 19

Punjab and Haryana have mainly remained dry from last 4-5 days though a few districts in Punjab such as Patiala has recorded light spells on July 15, Ambala in Haryana has also seen rain in the last 48 hours. However, the other parts of both these states have remained rain-free. However, now with the prediction of rains, pleasant weather is likely to prevail.

As per Skymet Weather, at present, the trough line is also passing through the central parts of the country and humid easterly winds are also blowing over the entire Indo-Gangetic plains including Punjab and Haryana. Thus, the northern districts of Punjab may receive scattered rains and many areas of Haryana is likely to receive short spell of rain and thundershowers today, continuing for the next 24 hours.

In fact, one or two spells of rain and thundershower are expected over Hisar, Jhajjar, Jind, Panipat, Rohtak, and Sonepat area of Haryana in some time soon.

However, these spells will be of short duration and will be patchy in nature, not cover a larger area. But the weather will remain pleasant and occasionally cloudy resulting in relief from the ongoing warm and humid weather conditions.

Moreover, a fresh Western Disturbance is also approaching Jammu & Kashmir and thus the rain intensity over parts of Punjab and Haryana may intensify, covering more regions by July 19. Districts like Amritsar, Jalandhar, Patiala, Ambala, Hisar, Sonepat will receive good rains.

Thereafter, the trough will move over the northern plains and along with the Western Disturbance, will contribute in the rains. The intensity and spread of rain will increase further over Punjab and Haryana which will continue for 2 days.

In general, the northwest plains including Punjab and Haryana receives occasional rains during the Monsoon season in contrast with continuous spells in most of central India.
