Good rains foreseen over Odisha for another 24 hours

Good rains have made their appearance over parts of Odisha. Most of the regions have observed moderate to light rainy spells during last 48 hours. In fact, one or two places have been blessed with heavy showers as well.

These rains were due to the persistence of a cyclonic circulation over northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Odisha.

In a span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Sunday, rainfall recorded in most parts of the state is displayed in the table given below:

However, now this cyclonic circulation has induced a low-pressure area over South Odisha and north coastal Andhra Pradesh. Moreover, this low-pressure area is expected to gradually move in a westerly direction.

In the wake of this weather system, more good rains are expected to lash parts of Odisha for another 24 hours. Henceforth, rain intensity may reduce over the state but scattered light to moderate rains are still expected over a few regions.

At present, Odisha is witnessing 12 percent lesser rains as compared to its normal rainfall. However, possibility of a few good showers in another 2-3 days may lead to some improvement in the prevailing rainfall statistics of the state.
