As of now a cyclonic circulation is seen over Vidarbha and Marathwada area. Another weather system as a low pressure area in west-central Bay of Bengal off north Andhra Pradesh coast persists. This weather system will move inlands.
With the combination of these two weather systems, we expect fairly widespread good rains to commence over Marathwada and Vidarbha.
Vidarbha has received on & off rain activity during entire month of August, whereas Marathwada remained largely dry with occasional light rain activity in between.
As of now, Vidarbha is rainfall surplus by 5% and Marathwada has received normal rainfall. Now we expect that good showers will continue over these two divisions for next 3-4 days. And by the end of the month, situation over Vidarbha and Marathwada will improve significantly as the Kharif crop of Soy Bean are in dire need of irrigation.
And the water reservoirs over these areas are also less than their usual capacity so this good and continuous rain for next 2-3 days will improve the water scarcity scare.
By September 2, we expect this rain activity to reduce significantly and only scattered light rain will continue over the region.
