Updated on February 26, 2016 12: 30 PM: Good rains approaching Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha
Central India is all set to get relief from scorching heat during the next couple of days. According to Skymet Weather, good spell of rain is approaching the region during next 24 hours.
A cyclonic circulation has developed over Vidarbha and adjoining parts Marathwada and Telangana. The system is also supported by a trough that is extending till Gangetic West Bengal.
Both the system combined together are likely to give scattered light to moderate rain and thundershowers over East Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha region of Maharashtra. Few places may also record some heavy showers.
The wet spell is likely to continue for at least 2-3 days. Thereafter, the system will move westwards and so does the rain belt that will then cover parts of Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada and Southwest Madhya Pradesh.
These fresh rains will bring huge respite from the high day temperatures, particularly over the parts of Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh. Both the regions have been reeling under heat wave like conditions.
For the past few days, maximum temperatures across Central India have been settling in high 30s which are above normal by 4-5 degrees. Now with the cloud cover, day maximums have already started reducing but are still above average.
In coming days, rain will pull the temperatures further down and they will start settling near normal. Some places may also record below normal day temperatures.
