Scattered light to moderate rain and thundershowers have been occurring at many places in Punjab during the last 24 hours. For instance, Patiala recorded 10 mm of rain, while Chandigarh, Amritsar, and Ludhiana recorded only light rainfall activities. The minimum temperatures also dropped marginally over Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi. The weather of Delhi, Haryana, West Uttar Pradesh, and North Rajasthan remained almost dry.
Now, we do not expect significant weather activity over the entire plains of Northwest India for the next 24 hours.
Thereafter, a fresh Western Disturbance will approach the Western Himalayas on March 23. And, by the evening hours of March 23, this weather system is expected to give scattered rain and thundershower activities in many parts of Punjab, and northwest and western parts of Rajasthan.
Gradually, the rainfall activities will start increasing on March 24 in Punjab, while isolated pockets of Haryana may also receive these rains. By late evening hours of March 24, the region of Delhi and NCR, as well as the western parts of Uttar Pradesh, may also observe rain and thundershower activities.
These on and off rains will further continue until March 26 over these areas. The intensity of these rains will remain patchy and will be seen for only a short duration in Rajasthan, Delhi, and West Uttar Pradesh. While, intense showers are likely in the northern districts of Punjab, and Haryana. Also, during the same episode of this rainy spell, Rajastha may observe thunderstorm activities accompanied by strong winds.
Thereafter, i.e on March 27, the weather is expected to go dry as the ongoing weather activities will subside from Delhi, Haryana, and Rajasthan, while Punjab may continue to get scattered rainfall activities thereafter as well.
