At present, the axis of Monsoon Trough is extending from Jaisalmer, Sawai Madhopur, to eastern parts of the country. A Cyclonic Circulation is also persisting over western parts of Rajasthan. Thus, we expect light to moderate intensity rains to continue over East and Southeast Rajasthan as well as southern districts of Rajasthan like Sawai Madhopur, Kota, Bundi, Jhalawar, Bhilwara, Rajasmand, Jodhpur, Pali, Nagaur, Chittorgarh and Tonk for the next 3 to 4 days.
Jaipur is also likely to receive good rains for the next 48 hours but the weather activity thereafter will start clearing from Jaipur.
Although the main observatory of Jaipur only recorded 5 mm of rain in a span of 24 hours from 8.30 am on Tuesday, many other parts of Jaipur received heavy rain during the late afternoon and evening hours. Due to this, traffic jams and waterlogging was reported from several places in the city.
In fact, the city of Jaisalmer also recorded 22 mm of rain in a span of 24 hours from 8.30 am on Tuesday. Many other areas especially those in Southwest and East Rajasthan reported good rain during this period. Cities like Ajmer, Kota, Bundi, Tonk, Udaipur, Chittorgarh have observed rain and thundershower activities.
Until September 1, on and off rain and thundershower activities will occur over eastern parts of Rajasthan. However, West and Northwest Rajasthan will receive only light rains.
Once, this weather system clears up, back to back weather systems will keep approaching the state until the next three to four days, which means some decent weather activity in the region.
