During the last 24 hours, the state of Kerala did not witness very good rains with only light showers making an appearance over some parts. In fact, only traces of rainfall were observed in some areas.

In a span of last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, Alappuzha and Karipur recorded 2 mm of rainfall, each. Meanwhile, Kochi recorded 0.2 mm of rains with Kozhikode receiving traces of rainfall.

Presently, a cyclonic circulation is seen over the Andaman Sea and adjoining areas. Also, the east-west shear zone is extending from this cyclonic circulation up to Lakshadweep area across South of the Bay of Bengal, North Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

Due to the effect of these two weather systems over the area, northern parts of Kerala will witness light to moderate rains during the next 24 to 48 hours. Whereas, scattered light rain and thundershower activities are expected to occur over South and Coastal parts of Kerala during the similar time period.
