These rains are attributed to a low pressure area which was over the central parts of Madhya Pradesh and is presently over the northeastern part of the state. Till now, as on Aug 13, West Madhya Pradesh has observed a rainfall excess of 43 per cent. East MP is also in the normal range with rainfall percentage of -15 per cent. Presently, central parts of Madhya Pradesh has been receiving good rains. In the next 48 hours, entire Madhya Pradesh will receive light to moderate rain. Thereafter, the northeastern parts of the state will receive good rains. Good Monsoon showers are also expected in areas including Satna, Rewa, Sagar and Damoh.

By Aug 18, the rainfall intensity will reduce significantly and most parts of Madhya Pradesh will start observing dry weather conditions. This will be attributed to the shifting of the Monsoon trough towards the foothills of the Himalayas. During this period, areas situated in the foothills of the Himalayas will receive good rainfall. As a result, most parts of Central India will experience dry weather conditions.
