The state of Gujarat was the most deficit pocket was Gujarat including Saurashtra until the month of July. In fact, even the last day of July saw below normal rains with Gujarat observing a deficit of -21 percent while Saurashtra and Kutch were deficient at -33 percent.
However, in a turn of events, the last five days have seen widespread rains with all these days observing heavy rains. The Gujarat region has seen more rains in the last two days while the Saurashtra and Kutch region saw rains between August 1 and 3.
In these rains, South and Central Gujarat contributed largely to the rains that took place in the state. In fact, Vadodara in just 24 hours saw more than 500 mm of rains wreaking havoc over the city, throwing life out of gear. Three digit rains were seen in many other parts of Gujarat as well. More contributors include Navsari, Bharuch, Surat, Vadodara, Vapi, Valsad, and Ahmedabad.
Now, the system which brought rains is clearing the region, and next 24 hours will see very little rains. However, Surat, Vapi, Navsari, Valsad may see moderate rains.
Other parts of Gujarat, will see light to moderate rains, for the next 4-5 days. Moreover, north, central Gujarat and Saurashtra will be the ones observing light rains. Good rains will revive only when the Low Pressure Area moves towards Rajasthan around August 8 and 9.
