Good rain in Kochi, Kozhikode, Alappuzha, Thiruvananthapuram for another 48 hours

The state of Kerala has been receiving good rains. In fact, the month of October has been quite a good one with God’s Own Country being surplus at the moment. Statistically, the state is presently witnessing a rainfall surplus of a good 42 percent.

As far as the current rainfall scenario is concerned, good showers were observed over many parts of the state in the last 24 hours as well. Isolated areas did see heavy rainfall activity.

In the past 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, Kozhikode witnessed a whopping 37 mm of rainfall, Thrissur 22 mm, Alappuzha 18 mm, Thiruvananthapuram 13 mm, Kochi 10 mm, Punalur 24 mm, Kottayam 4 mm, and traces of rains were seen in Kannur.

At present, a Cyclonic Circulation is seen over Southeast Arabian Sea and adjoining Kerala. Due to the presence of this system, light to moderate rains will continue over many parts of Kerala during the next 48 hours. Cities of Alappuzha, Kochi, Kozhikode, Thiruvananthapuram, Punalur, Kottayam will see good showers.

Thereafter, as this cyclonic circulation will be weakening, rains will see a decrease. Moreover, temperatures which are currently in the comfortable range will also see a marginal increase due to reduction in rainfall activities from these areas.
