Gujarat rain 2Saurashtra region in Gujarat has been receiving heavy to very heavy rainfall for the last few days. Continuous rains have brought down the rainfall deficiency to 49% from 65% on July 1.

For the state as a whole, Monsoon rain deficiency was 78% in the beginning of the month, which has now come down to 68%.

During last 24 hours, heavy to very heavy rainfall has been recorded over the region. Surat has received 126 mm of rainfall while Bhavnagar recorded 52 mm. In central parts of the state, Rajkot received 4 mm, Amreli 5 mm, Idar 4 mm and Baroda 2.6 mm of rainfall. Ahmedabad, Kandla, Veraval and Porbandar all recorded light rains.

Thus, we can say that many areas of Gujarat have received scattered rainfall activities.  Ahmedabad has been receiving good rains since Monday morning. We now expect some more showers over the Gujarat region during next 24 hours.

Thereafter, rain intensity will decrease. However, in southern parts of Gujarat places like Surat, Bhavnagar, Navsari, Valsad and Bharuch will continue to receive good rains.

After a gap of about 2 to 3 days, rain intensity is once again likely to increase in the eastern parts of Gujarat. Rain deficiency will decrease further.
