A few places over the state of Karnataka have been witnessing good rains, especially the interior districts of the state for the last few days. While the state capital of Bengaluru has been recording only light rains. On the other hand, the coastal areas of Karnataka have been observing only scattered light rain and thundershowers.
Within the span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, Bengaluru recorded mere rainfall of 9.2 mm, whereas Raichur recorded heavy rainfall of 54.2 mm, followed by Kallaburgi 32 mm, Vijayapuru 32 mm, Agumbe 6.2 mm, Karwar 5 mm and Mangaluru 1 mm.
These weather conditions can be attributed to a trough which is seen extending from Vidarbha up to South Interior Karnataka.

Due to this prevailing weather system, a few spells of moderate showers are likely over the city of Bengaluru during the next 24 to 48 hours. Meanwhile, the interior parts of Karnataka are expected to witness light to moderate rain and thundershower during the similar time period. Districts such as Gulbarga, Raichur, Koppal, Bellary, Chitradurga, and Tumkur will continue to witness good rains for the next couple of days.
Thereafter, the intensity of rains is expected to decrease gradually over Interior parts of Karnataka as well as over Bengaluru.
Besides this, during the next few days, the coastal areas of Karnataka will continue to witness scattered light showers.

Later on, October 13 onwards, the humidity level and the day temperatures are likely to increase as these rains are expected to witness a decreasing trend.
As on October 9, the sub-divisional rainfall distribution statistics show that Bengaluru and Karnataka are both rain surplus by 69% and 40%, respectively.
