Most parts of Gujarat have remained dry and hot for the past two months. While there have been isolated rains in some parts, cities including Ahmedabad have also recorded a few good spells with isolated pockets also witnessing hailstorm activity.

During the last few days also, there have been isolated rainfall activities over some parts of Gujarat. With this, temperatures have witnessed a slight drop in some areas of the state. However, the maximums are still settling above the 40-degree mark in almost the entire state. In fact, Surendranagar has been recording maximum temperature of 43.5 degrees.

Now, as per weathermen at Skymet, relief is in sight. A cyclonic circulation is expected to develop over Northwest Arabian Sea. Not only this, a trough is also likely to extend from South Pakistan region up to West Central Arabian Sea.

With this, humid winds from the Arabian Sea will start reaching the Gujarat region. Due to this, moisture incursion will increase leading to cloud development.

Thus, good Pre-Monsoon rainfall activity is expected to occur over the cities of Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Surat and adjoining areas. These rains will begin after 24-48 hours. Before that, isolated thunderstorm and thundershowers cannot be ruled out.
