Good pre-Monsoon rains likely in Bhopal, Ujjain, Indore in Madhya Pradesh

Many districts of Madhya Pradesh have been observing good rainfall since last two to three days. To such an extent that it led to the abatement of heatwave from the entire region. Temperatures have also curtailed down which was settling above the normal limits, barring north and northeast parts of Madhya Pradesh such as Guna which reported a maximum of 40.8°C.

However, last 24 saw some heavy to very heavy rains over few parts of Madhya Pradesh like Ujjain, Indore and Dhar. In a span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Wednesday, districts like Dhar witnessed a whopping 66 mm of rainfall, followed by Indore that recorded 57 mm, Ujjain 47 mm, Shahjapur 38 mm, Khargone 26 mm and Guna 20 mm.

As on June 7, West Madhya Pradesh has recorded 56% of surplus rainfall, while East Madhya Pradesh has reported 26%.

These weather conditions can be attributed to a north-south trough that is extending from Bihar to Odisha. Another east-west trough extends from Punjab to Odisha. Both of these troughs are running close to North Madhya Pradesh, thus impacting the weather activity over the region. Besides this, southwesterly strong winds are entering the extreme west of Madhya Pradesh.

As per Skymet Weather, these pre- Monsoon showers are anticipated to continue over many parts of the state during the next two to three days.

With these rains, the weather conditions are likely to remain pleasant. Temperatures will also fall significantly and thus giving a sigh of relief from the sweltering heat. The onset of Monsoon 2017 is expected to arrive over these areas around June 15.
