The wait for good Mumbai rains seems to not get over yet. While heavy rains have refrained themselves from occurring over the capital of Maharashtra, it is the light spells that the city is managing with since almost a week now.
These missed heavy spells are basically due to the offshore trough that has become insignificant. As the offshore trough along the West Coast has become inactive, heavy spells have not shown their face resulting in the temperatures to peak and humid weather to replace the pleasant weather that Mumbai is famous for.
Within the span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Friday, the Santa Cruz Observatory recorded merely spells of 3 mm while, the Colaba Observatory failed to record any rains. Further, as per Skymet Weather, the offshore trough is expected to remain inactive which will, in turn, reduce the possibilities of any further good rains to lash Mumbai for at least another 4-5 days.

However, moderate winds from the Arabian Sea are blowing over Coastal Maharashtra including Mumbai. Due to these moisture incursion winds, the city of dreams will continue to record light spells. Though these rains will be patchy in nature and will not cover a larger area.

Moreover, the Monsoon Surge is active over the southern region of the West Coast that is over Coastal Kerala and Coastal Karnataka but is weak over Konkan & Goa. Thus, Mumbai will have to manage with light spells and good rains are not anticipated before August 10.
In the wake of absence of rains, the mercury level will continue to settle between 30-31°C and warm and humid weather will prevail. However, the discomfort level will be on the lower side as evening and night are anticipated to stay breezy.
