The temperatures were on a hike but as predicted by Skymet Weather, the wait for rain finally ended and Mumbai witnessed few spells of rain and thundershower in the past day. In the last 24 hours from 8.30 am on Friday, Colaba Observatory in Mumbai recorded rain to the tune of 9 mm and Santa Cruz a mere 3 mm.

It is predicted by Skymet Weather that the intensity of rain is likely to increase over Mumbai. On and off light to moderate spells will be witnessed by the Mumbaikars but one or two isolated heavy showers cannot be ruled out over the maximum city. The rain is likely to sustain for at least 48 hours.

The rainfall activity will be attributed to the cyclonic circulation which is persisting over Telangana and a trough which is extending from Goa to Kerala along the coast. The maximum and minimum temperatures will reduce significantly and the humid and sultry weather will take a back seat from Mumbai and pleasant will take the front seat. The rainfall activity will not be very heavy, and hence it’s not an alarming situation.
