Good Monsoon showers lash West Bengal and parts of East India

Monsoon has already occupied most parts of West Bengal , parts of Coastal Odisha and a few pockets of Bihar. Decent rains have been witnessed in many parts of East India including West Bengal and Coastal Odisha. Good rains have also been observed over many parts of Bihar, Jharkhand and few pockets East Uttar Pradesh.

These moderate rains can be attributed to the weather system in close proximity to Andhra Pradesh and a trough extending across Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Madhya Pradesh. This trough has changed the orientation of an earlier trough that was running across Bay of Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal.

Due to this, more moderate rains are likely in parts of East India like East Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Jharkhand and other parts of Bihar during next 3 to 4 days.

During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Thursday, rainfall recorded in most pockets of Eastern states of India are as follows:

In fact, these rainy spells are favorable for sowing. Farmers sowing Paddy will be most benefited. Moreover, Paddy is mostly grown in parts of East India, particularly Odisha and West Bengal.
