Southwest Monsoon has now covered most parts of Bihar, Odisha and a few pockets of Jharkhand as well. Heavy rainfall has been witnessed in Coastal Odisha, North Bengal, East Bihar and adjoining West Assam during the last 24 hours.
During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Friday, Krishnanagar recorded a good 53.2 mm of rain along with Paradip where 68 mm rain was observed. Rainfall figures for other areas is as follows Malda 35 mm, Purnea 40 mm, Forbesganj 29.5 mm, Puri 22 mm. The city of joy,Kolkataalso received Monsoon showers during the last 24 hours.
According to Skymet weather, the cyclonic circulation seen over Odisha is expected to move in a west-northwest direction resulting in slight decrease in moisture incursion.
The system is likely to reduce rainfall activity over Odisha, Jharkhand and West Bengal between June 19-21, though foothills of Bihar and the Sub-HimalayanWest Bengalregion will continue to receive good showers.
The intensity of rain will increase significantly from June 22 and almost entire East India will witness good Monsoon rains. Fairly widespread rain is expected to occur over Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal and eastern and central parts of Uttar Pradesh during this period. During the next 2-3 days, Southwest Monsoon is also expected to cover more parts of Bihar, Odisha, and Jharkhand.
