The subdivision of Maharashtra, Vidarbha has received good Monsoon rains throughout the season. However, the month of August hasn’t brought a lot of good news over the region in terms of good rains. So much so that Vidarbha has only witnessed isolated rains during this period.
While several weather systems developed in the Bay during the past few weeks, none of them travelled towards Maharashtra. Thus, the region remained devoid of any significant weather activity for quite some time now.
The residents of the region have been craving for a good spell of Monsoon rains. Finally, rain gods have decided to answer their prayers and bestow some kindness in the form of good showers. The well-marked low-pressure area which is over West Bengal and adjoining Jharkhand at present is expected to move westwards.
Thus, after a span of 24 hours, Vidarbha is likely to receive scattered Monsoon rains. These rains are likely to occur between August 23 and 24.
Thereafter, another cyclonic circulation is expected to form over west-central Bay of Bengal around August 26. Due to this system, light to moderate Monsoon rains are expected over the subdivision of Vidarbha around August 27.
These rains are likely to continue over the region for a good two to three days’ time. This prolonged spell of rain will be beneficial for reservoirs and crops in need of irrigation.
