The most auspicious festival of Ganesh Chaturthi is just two days away. It is a ten day festivity which is celebrated with great enthusiasm and zeal across entire Maharashtra. The state is known for grand scale celebration.
The celebrations will begin on August 25 and just like every year; Maharashtra is most likely to witness some good spells of Monsoon showers.

During the last 24 hours, light to moderate rains were observed over Konkan and Goa region, Vidarbha and North Madhya Maharashtra. Rest of Maharashtra witnessed subdued rain activity during the same time frame.
For the next 24 to 48 hours, rains are anticipated to reduce over most parts, however scattered light to moderate showers will continue over Vidarbha and Konkan and Goa.

Coming back to the weather conditions during the ten day festivity of Ganesh Chaturthi, the rain intensity is likely to increase over Konkan and Goa including Mumbai, Thane and Dahanu. These areas will record moderate rains over many places. In fact few places may also receive heavy falls.
Meanwhile, light to moderate showers are also expected over Vidarbha region in cities like Akola, Nagpur, Chandrapur and parts of Marathwada such as Nanded and Hingoli.
The intensity of rains will remain light over most parts of Madhya Maharashtra. Places like Aurangabad, Parbhani, Ahmedanagar, Sangli, Satara and Kolhapur will observe only light rain.
